The client brought to our attention his concerns regarding the booking process, specifically having to complete a 10-page form after a phone call where the event details were already discussed. He mentioned that the event was diamond and denim-themed, but our PDF indicated "cocktail," leading us to dress accordingly. Had we been aware of the theme, we would have dressed appropriately. We listened to his concerns and expressed our apologies for any frustrations experienced. We assured him that we are actively working on having our team members handle phone calls directly to prevent such miscommunications in the future. The client seemed to appreciate being heard, and we provided a solution to address any future concerns. Given that this is the second time they have engaged our services for this event, we anticipate the possibility of future collaborations. Although this discussion happened before the events of the evening unfolded, we believe the client was VERY pleased with our work on this event.

Blog Note 1

This evening, we performed at the ISN Tool Dealer Expo. The event, an awards ceremony with Dueling Pianos and an energetic MC, began with a high-energy rendition of "Shut Up and Dance." Willie, our host, outlined the night's agenda and built excitement for the numerous prizes. The atmosphere was electric, setting the stage for an engaging and memorable event.

Blog Note 2

Willie kicked off the program by challenging us to a musical duel with "Devil Went Down to Georgia." My partner played the devil while I played Johnny, getting the audience involved. With four large screens and cameras capturing the performance, the president of ISN delivered a speech, recognizing key members before we resumed playing music between award presentations.

Blog Note 3

As raffle winners were announced, we played tunes like "Billie Jean" and "September" to maintain the energy. After awarding major prizes, including $50,000 and a mobile home, we took a brief break. The second half featured popular requests from the audience, culminating in a lively rendition of "Don't Stop Believin'." Willie ensured the evening flowed smoothly, and the guests enjoyed a memorable event.

Other Notes

Small awkward moment with partner before performance. Client asked stage to be cleared of everything except the pianos and that the rug for the drums should be the only "accent". I noticed my partner kept a neon display that read "Live Music" leaning against a large luggage bag in the middle of both pianos. Felt for an event of this caliber where there were cameras and jumbo screens involved to capture a live show that aesthetically it clashed. Because of what the client had just said about striking the stage I brought it up to my partner asking if they had cleared it with the client to leave the luggage up there. My partner responded with "I know what I'm doing" but then proceeded to check in with the client anyway. As I suspected, the client asked to strike the luggage from the stage as well which my partner then proceeded to do. I felt the response from my partner to me was unnecessary and that they could have just checked with the client after I brought it to their attention. After this, all went smoothly with no further awkwardness.

The format of tonight's event was unusual in terms of a dueling show. Lots of stopping and starting and creating banter with a 3rd host we'd never met. Me and the drummer played walk up music to every guest that won a prize (probably 20 guests) and we delivered unique, recognizable and high energy walk up tunes each time. When it was our turn to trade songs for the "show" we never missed a beat and the program continued smoothly. I think tonight's success proved that me and my partner can integrate ourselves in complex situations that are brought forward on short notice, make it entertaining for a very large audience all while not compromising quality. Not to mention pleasing a client with very high standards who is used to organizing timelines like tonight's to a T. We ended perfectly at 9pm and gave away all of the prizes for the raffles.
