Handwrytten - Felix And Fingers Dueling Pianos

Manage Handwrytten Notes

Gig Score from player (1-5)3

There were a few unplanned (long) speeches the client’s mother and brother did that pushed back the time of other events, which would be okay, but it did cut into our time to eat dinner.

They didn’t really reserve a time for us to eat and we were very rushed. The servers were kind and brought out our food as fast they could, but as soon as the food came out we were asked
to help with an 3rd additional speech.

We were eating only about 10-12 minutes and pretty much had to go straight into the dueling show after that as the client pushed a few times for us to hurry.

The client ended up having a good time but it was a bit chaotic for us to keep jumping from multiple events we didn’t know were occurring until the moment of.

I think it would be very beneficial for all and help things run smoothly if they had an event coordinator for this type of event on site:

-At one point the client was worried about the guitar and fiddle player not showing up at all, as they couldn’t get in contact with them as the start time was nearing. An event coordinator would alleviate the client of this stress since she shouldn’t have to be calling those separate musicians worrying if they will show up on time or not.

-It would allow Felix and Fingers players in the future a time to eat and settle their food before the dueling show.

Also, a thorough layout of the load-in would be helpful for the future. We did have to go through the restaurant to bring all the gear in/out. At the end when we brought the equipment out, the kitchen floors were hosed down with water or a cleaning substance.

Blog Note 1

The crowd was definitely a dancing crowd. We played a variety of 80’s and especially 90’s music to keep the party moving and the dance floor grooving.

Blog Note 2

The DJ set at the end went very smoothly and all the transitions were seamlessly executed. During this time, we received a multitude of compliment from the guests and the client. Michael(the bday boy) came up to us and thanked us. We even handed out multiple F&F business cards to people that asked after the party.

Blog Note 3

It was very cool to see an event that also incorporated 2 other musicians and 2 sets of dancers with different routines. Dirty Dancing and a breakdancing routine.

Blog Note 4

We had fun hitting the requests and even got to try some new songs for each of us. Nate did Seasons of Love for a first time and I did Raise your Glass. I love requests because it lets you learn a new song on the spot you can add to widen your set list.

Blog Note 5

Lastly, it was helpful that she called valet in order to make sure she received the charge for our 2 vehicles in order to park.
