Blog Note 1 | Setup was a breeze at the Ideal theater, with an access door only a few feet from the stage. I learned upon arrival we were using house sound, so only shells and keys. Hooray! |
Blog Note 2 | After meeting with Natasha from Affordable, we met our sound guy Davy who ran everything through the house and their monitors. He was great on the boards, I heard myself and Robert crystal clear throughout the show! |
Blog Note 3 | We enjoyed the buffet after most of the attendees had gone through, as well as some killer fruit mocktails from the Ideal bar staff. I expect nothing less from a bar in Cedar Rapids' young and hip New-Bo neighborhood. |
Blog Note 4 | The evening's program was minimal, the buffet moved quickly and dinner finished ahead of schedule. Robert checked in with Natasha, who agreed an early start to the piano show would be a good idea and we jumped right in at 7:15. |
Blog Note 5 | We had the requests flowing, even at a slight remove from the crowd on our 3 foot stage. We got the most participation from our front 2 tables, who were very into dancing and generally horsing around with one another (while other co-workers laughed and took pictures). We really rocked them with 90's favorites and even some more obscure stuff from Sublime and RHCP. Loved the off-beat requests! |
