Blog Note 1 | A snowstorm and high winds made travel difficult for this gig, but we had been assured by Jay that the fundraiser would be going on regardless of the conditions, and we were able to arrive and sound check on time with no problem. |
Blog Note 2 | While we got adjusted and set up, we met the organizers Jay and Laura, who were super helpful holding doors during load in and bringing us dinner from a local restaurant. Some fried chicken hits the spot after a white-knuckle drive! |
Blog Note 3 | Our performance was at the end of several events, and much of the cash fundraising for the Houghton Knights of Columbus had already taken place before our show. Jay let us know that we didn't need to push requests for fundraising tips too hard, just mention a few times and have fun with the audience. |
Blog Note 4 | The crowd hung out in groups, many of them staying by the bar, but we had a core of a few tables giving us most of our requests, dancing and energy. It didn't take long until we had a singing volunteer on Trey Lewis' hit concerning Dallas, which definitely got the room's attention. |
Blog Note 5 | Definitely the night's highlight was an epic Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes call down. Jay and another attendee gave us names of four couples, and Jim helped them through it on the wireless while I provided the piano and singing. It was a real team-effort call down that got everyone involved! |
