Blog Note 1

These folks like to party! They have their own western-themed party barn…they don’t rent it out to anyone, it’s just for their own events…full stage, sound system, kitchen, and a full bar…it’s massive. They had it the whole place decorated for the holidays too. They had sandwiches, hot dogs, a popcorn machine, bags of chips and cookies.

Blog Note 2

We had an 80s pre-party mix on before we started and Debi asked me to switch it to 70s rock/pop. 60s and 70s classic dueling repertoire went over huge with them, and older country tunes—the couple owns a western wear and farm supply chain. The attendees were all ages, but they really gravitated to the older tunes. We did a few tunes from the 80s and later but not many!

Blog Note 3

The love the chicken dance like the notes said, but not the dueling (calldown) way, they want the original way folks used to do it at weddings…when we called it, they immediately all got up and stood in a circle. They also really liked other group dances…Cupid Shuffle, conga line, etc.

Blog Note 4

The calldowns all worked great…Sexy And I Know It, Lovin’ Feeling for the 94 year old grandma, Head/Shoulders, Elvis. Several folks came up to sing too. And they have ties to Portugal…we pulled up a Portuguese song on Spotify and they did a line dance to it.

Blog Note 5

They asked us to extend the show for another hour. We didn’t know how extra time was billed, but we said yes, told them the amount after the show and they handed us the extra in cash. Super nice, laidback, fun folks, and they have parties in that barn all the time!

Other Notes

Maybe don’t use the audio on the video of the conga line…that was after they added the extra hour and my voice is TIRED. And you might need to lighten the pix…it was damn dark in there!
