Handwrytten - Felix And Fingers Dueling Pianos

Manage Handwrytten Notes

Gig Score from player (1-5)4

I misjudged how much amplification I would need. Since I was in a small corner and it was supposed to be more of a lounge gig, I started the event with only speaker. However once the guests arrived and I started DJ’ing I realized one speaker wasn’t enough. I had to add a second speaker during the DJ set. Even with the two speakers, I had to crank them almost full volume during my piano set to be heard. My speakers are only 300W so have nowhere near the power of the F&F K12’s, so now I know these speakers are probably best for crowds under 100 people. Once I have the budget I will invest in a stronger set. The client didn’t seem to mind though. People were dancing both during the DJ and piano set.

Blog Note 1

People really loved the funky instrumental jazz music I DJ’d, despite not even knowing most of the songs.

Blog Note 2

The groom’s sibling impersonated all the lyric references in the song “A team” by Ed Sheeran. It gave me a good laugh during my solo show set.

Blog Note 3

There were two little kids that couldn’t stop dancing with their mother to my Frank Sinatra classics.

Blog Note 4

At the very end of the night, I DJ’d two for the groom’s favorite songs, and all the guests danced with so much energy and enthusiasm. It was a nice way to end the night.

Blog Note 5

The client was so easy going and flexible throughout the whole night.

Other Notes

I didn’t play solo piano during the 7:15 to 8:00 timeframe as noted on the gig sheet. Due to the number of people talking in the room and the vibe of the crowd, I thought it would have sounded too mellow. I decided to extend the dj set 15 minutes, and start my piano and vox show at 7:30. The client suggested the extended DJ set and didn’t seem to mind starting my show a little early.

Another note, the client instructed me to add the valet fee to their room tab, so I didn’t pay for parking.
