Handwrytten - Felix And Fingers Dueling Pianos

Manage Handwrytten Notes

Gig Score from player (1-5)2

I'm sure the "show" was fine and we provided what they asked for. We loaded in at 3pm sharp (per the client's request), but weren't able to sound check until approximately 4:30 due to Clint Black's sound check taking an hour and change. We were pressured to stay past the contracted time and plied with extra money and "exposure." Leading up to the gig, the client was not clear with their expectations and requests of the performers. We thought it was a dueling show from 5pm-8pm. It turns out what they really wanted was live instrumental background music while the guests arrived and ate dinner (which was from 5pm-8:15). That's more than three hours of constant playing. Then a break while Clint Black did his 45 min show, and a dueling show afterwards. A lot of these headaches could've been avoided if they had communicated up front, because these requests really aren't unreasonable. What's unreasonable is springing that on us when we arrive and trying to guilt, pressure, and buy us when we have specifically budgeted our time and energy for the contract provided to us. If this client decides to rehire F&F I would strongly recommend nailing down expectations in the clearest possible terms.

Communication from the client. Based on what we were told when we arrived, we provided exactly what they requested for the time allotted in the contract.

Blog Note 1

The venue was really beautiful. They created a Country Christmas wonderland in the casino.

Blog Note 2

We got to listen to Grammy award winning Clint Black play from the main stage.

Blog Note 3

We had a cute little gazebo for our performance and were able to take requests from all sides.

Blog Note 4

The music was really low key for dinner, and I was able to play jazzy Christmas tunes.

Blog Note 5

The staff we're helpful in getting our rig loaded out which doesn't happen often.

Other Notes

The venue was pretty simple to find, navigate, and load. And the space really was lovely.
