Blog Note 1

The Orchard Community Center is a repurposed high school, and we played at the center of their large gym. Some light snow covered most of the entrances, but once I was inside Stephanie helped me find the best door for gear and I was able to guide Kevin for a super easy load-in.

Blog Note 2

Stephanie was on site the whole event and helped us a bunch. While we set up, she made sure we got our pizza order in to the caterers (aka her husband) well before show-time.

Blog Note 3

The Fundraiser didn't have live auctions, and was all about having some fun with snacks, drinks and live music to raise money for the community center (for its new AC, specifically). Stephanie is the unofficial town mayor, knew everyone in the audience and where they would be seated, and prepped us on what to expect from who and where. This was super helpful!

Blog Note 4

This was a repeat Felix And Fingers event. That really helped as the crowd were mostly repeats too, and knew what to expect and jumped right in singing along to A songs. Country hits, 80s rock and flashy piano solos all got big cheers with this group.

Blog Note 5

We raised a nice pot of cash for Stephanie and the center's new air conditioning! We played multiple $100 songs, including 2 encores as the cash flowed in, but the night's highlight was the song "Go Cubs Go". Stephanie pre-banned that request with a big tip to open the night, knowing several fans in town would request it. And of course, not long after we announced this, it was eventually overturned with $150, to be played in full with every verse, which I was happy to do. A real fun crowd!
