Manage Handwrytten Notes

This was my first real 'dueling pianos' gig - so I didn't expect it to be perfect. I was proud of a lot of things I did, but I felt like I let my confidence slip after I forgot a few lyrics. With more experience I can learn to push through that. I had a ton of fun onstage and I think (hope!) that translated to our audience.

From F&F's end, the client was forward with us that he was more than satisfied. "You guys were awesome! We'd love to have you back next year!"

Toward the end of the night, two folks rapped Digital Underground's, "The Humpty Dance" in its entirety. The crowd went wild!

Hip-Hop was the theme of the night, with an older couple SHREDDING the dance floor (NSFW) to Sir Mix-a-Lot. An absolute riot.

The host and his cohort were beyond kind. They offered us everything we could possibly need and want, and then some! Water, alcohol, food cooked on site, even an invite to the afterparty!

It was known from the beginning that all the dueler's tips were being donated straight back to the fundraiser cause, and people were extremely generous, 20's and 50's flying left and right. I can't speak for how much total we raised, but I had close to $500 in my tip jar alone!

The crowd did not hold back on their requests! We quickly went from "Bennie and the Jets" to "Dear Penis", and that usually takes an hour or so!

Instead of doing the live auction at 7 and us playing 7:30-10, the host offered for us to start at 7 to get the crowd going, have the auction at 8, and have us start back again when they were done around 8:30 and go until 10. That was actually really great, it got us a chance to rest our voices and use the restroom.

Unfortunately during that time, the host's mic (not ours or involved in Jacob's sound system whatsoever) started feeding back. Some random man just went on stage and starting turning knobs and sliding faders on Jacob's soundboard. It was extremely unprofessional of that person, who was just a guest who thought he could fix a problem he had no idea how to fix. Jacob rebalanced the sound as we finished the night but it was just a little too close for comfort, especially on Jacob's end.
