Corporate events can really be hit or miss. This one felt like a miss. The venue was super cool and the show went well I feel, but it just didn’t hit the mark like I wanted.
Load in time was set for 4 pm but we weren’t able to sound check due to the mariachi band that was set to start at 5… pdf said load in time started at 4 and the event started at 6 but the mariachi band was in the same space as us and requested we not sound check during their set from 5-6-6:15… we asked for 5 minutes and they begrudgingly obliged but it was still a pain. Had to make several adjustments on the fly during the night due to the situation

Reason For No Review | Stated above, situation plus the Lexington had 2 of their 4 ac systems working.. not a lot of requests and 70% of people left before 8:40pm…. Couldn’t get a rhythm with my partner… didn’t feel like it was the best show I am capable of. It went fine and the client John, was happy and extremely nice. That’s why I say test |
Blog Note 1 | The Lexington is an awe inspiring sight. Just the sheer size of a carrier up close is enough to bring about deep emotional responses. |
Blog Note 2 | The event was super well planned. Good food, entertainment from the mariachi group and us was seamlessly transitioning. And the speakers were great! John was also a great host and gave us one of my favorite introductions I’ve ever had for a show. |
Blog Note 3 | The event was fun for sure and even though it was hot, people still had a good time. Talked and requested some fun and interesting songs |
Blog Note 4 | You never knew what you were gonna see, space cowboy by *NSYNC, Chicago, and even some blondie at one point. Very few “standard” songs came up. Was constantly testing my limits of my repertoire |
Blog Note 5 | All in all, a wonderful night shared while standing on a huge piece of history. Definitely a fun experience |
Other Notes | Once I got everything loaded in and mostly set up, Andrew arrived to help finish up with the event setup. Between that and the event time load in situation it was a rough event |
