Party at New Berlin Hills
Last week I had the honor of playing a 40th Anniversary Party at the New Berlin Hills Golf Course. It was a great event, and everyone had a lot of fun. It was actually planned out like a mini-wedding. They had a cake cutting, a first dance, and awesome entertainment. 😉
Whenever I do a solo show, I joke that’s it’s Felix and his Fingers. Get it? Well, this was a “Felix and his Fingers” show! Though we specialize in dueling pianos, we can bring tons of energy to an event with just one of us! 🙂
I love playing parties like these as much as a wedding. The best part of playing a wedding is how memorable the event is for everyone. At Felix and Fingers, our goal is obsessively creating positive, lasting memories. What better way to do this than to play at the most memorable day of a couple’s life?!
How is each party special?
Whenever I speak with clients on the phone, I tell them my favorite part of this job is that each show is different. We aren’t a cover band playing the same 20 songs every night. If someone comes to see Felix and Fingers 100 times, they won’t ever see the same show twice. I mean, you’ll hear ‘Sweet Caroline” and “Piano
Man” exactly 100 times, but the shape and style of the show is always different. The show at New Berlin Hills was no different. When I showed up to the party I already knew a few special things I’d be doing for the happy couple.
First of all, for their “first dance” I played “Laughter in the Rain” by Neil Sedaka. It was the song they used as their actual first dance forty years ago. They had no idea it was going to happen, and I’d spent the whole morning practicing it to make it just right. I also looked up the song that was the #1 song in America on the day they were married, and it was actually one of my favorite songs. “Nothin’ from Nothin‘” by Billy Preston.
There were several grandchildren at New Berlin Hills as well, and I was pleased to be able to rock out to One Direction, Taylor Swift, and Frozen for them. If you’ve seen my promo you know I pride myself on my Disney Repertoire.
New Berlin Hills experience
Everything about the party was great. New Berlin Hills really knows how to make it work. The food was spectacular. I had some delicious baked pasta and marinated chicken. The bartender and the rest of the staff were all incredibly nice too, which definitely makes it more fun when I’m setting up and breaking down my show. I’d definitely play there again in a heartbeat.
Check out New Berlin Hills if you are interested in hosting a great party, and if you do, we hope you’ll bring Felix and Fingers in to entertain you! Get in touch with us here!
