Surg on the Water Wedding
To all future couples looking for the right wedding venue, Surg on the Water is an excellent choice! It is located in the beautiful and historic Third Ward of Milwaukee. The wedding had around 100 guests and it was a smaller venue, but it seemed full. This venue knew how to use its space accordingly to the number of guests that the bride and groom had invited. Additionally, they had an amazing staff. Everything was very timely and the dinner they prepared seem to satisfy everyone in the room. Great service to add on to a beautiful venue!
One of the many things that we enjoyed about this wedding, is that rather than the traditional toast/speech, the father of the groom sang, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” to the couple, accompanied by Sam from Felix and Fingers. Very touching and beautiful! We really loved being a part of that special moment.
Dancing to the Music
As traditions go, the bride and groom started off the dancing with their first dance together. However, they untraditionally let their guests choose their first dance song since they couldn’t decide on one of their own. We received several suggestions, some great and others funny, but we ended up creating a mash-up of four different songs. The bride and groom danced to a combination of “All of Me”, “I’m Too Sexy”, “Baby Got Back”, and “A Whole New World”. The spontaneity of the songs kept the bride and groom on their feet and had them laughing and smiling throughout the entire dance.
Later on in the night, the groom stole the show. He is an avid karaoke fan and sang two beautiful renditions of “Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy” and “Ice Ice Baby” to which he knew all the words to both songs. Bravo to the groom! As well, we were psyched to see another packed dance floor. The youngsters danced to the oldies, and the oldies danced to the new music! We loved to see the variety in the requests that everyone out there busting a move.
Happy Endings
At the very end of the night, it became more of just family and close friends who all were theater nerds. So, we played “Defying Gravity” from Wicked the musical, and everything went crazy. We gave out both of our mics and people were soloing and singing the duet. What a memorable moment! Everyone seemed to really have a great time. After the wedding, the groom said people loved the show, and that many people that don’t usually dance were out there all night long! We hope we can play at another Surg on the Water Wedding again!
