The Madison Club Hosts Worst Titled Blog Yet
Ok I’m sorry. It was the only way to get the word Badger into the title while still including something about the Madison Club! I promise it’ll be worth it when you realize WHY I needed to include the word badger.
Another Wedding at the Madison Club
I love playing at the Madison club. It’s a beautiful venue with classic interiors mixed with modern looks. It has great views of the water and every time I’ve played a wedding there, the staff has done a perfect job.
The Madison Club is one of the venues where everyone wants to help. The staff is constantly asking if there is anything they can do. I feel like they really want to be friends with everyone who walks in, which is great, because I love to make friends with everyone.
Ok – Get to the part about a badger.
Fine! Well before we arrived, we were contacted by the family of the newlyweds and told a secret. Bucky Badger, the mascot of University of Wisonsin-Madison would be making an appearance at the Madison Club and bringing the marching band with him! This was definitely one of the coolest surprises I’d ever been a part of. We had to time it out exactly with the end of the first dances.
We started with the Bride and Groom dance, as we usually do, but we couldn’t start until we knew Bucky Badger and the band were hidden in the next room of the Madison Club. Then we went into the mother/son and father daughter dances. About a minute or two into the last song, snare drums started to echo through the hallway. The groom looked up with a “What the heck is going on?” look on his face, and he was immediately shocked to see Bucky Badger and a battalion of musicians walking down the hallway onto the dance floor.
They played for about 20 minutes and got everyone completely pumped up. It was definitely the most scared I’d ever been to go on! How the heck would we ever be able to keep the energy up? But then I remembered, we are Felix and Fingers. High energy is what we do best!
We turned up the volume, went right into “Shut up and Dance,” and kept the dance floor packed all night. It was tons of fun, and definitely the only time I’ve had a marching band open for me.
(A funny note is that the very next week I played another wedding where Bucky Badger was supposed to make an appearance, but they’d had a double booking with something at school so they needed to cancel. Two weeks in a row of that would have been insane!)
The Madison Club Does it Right
I highly recommend the Madison Club for weddings or any event. And if you do end up using them, be sure to reach out to Felix and Fingers for the best possible entertainment!
