Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos is no stranger to events in Lake Geneva, WI and its surrounding areas. Among those surrounding areas is Fontana-On-Geneva Lake, where lies The Abbey Resort. As a company we’ve been there many times, and I myself went up there as part of an F&F jazz quintet this past winter. I loved it so much, the boyfriend and I ended up vacationing there for a night two weeks later! But even a venue as familiar and well-loved as The Abbey can be appreciated in a new light, and that’s just what happened this August.
You Never Know at The Abbey…
The Abbey plays host to multiple beautiful areas to host an event. There are harbor view ballrooms available for rent, gorgeous patios (there were 3 cocktail hours going on at once and you’d never even know it!) and a beautiful gazebo by the lake. In February, we were inside in their spacious private dining area, which worked great for the corporate event that day. This particular day in August, we were outside in an air conditioned tent they’d set up, which I had never seen before! Obviously, you can tell by the pictures it worked out beautifully.
Mike Sherman and I had just put the finishing touches on the reception tent when we went over to the patio make sure everything was running smoothly at the cocktail hour. Walking over, I noticed a young couple with a baby who looked very familiar, and it turned out to be two friends of mine from high school! Our bride had attended college with my friend Kristin, and it was a great surprise to get to meet their new little one. 🙂
Speaking of surprises, when cocktail hour ended, it was time to get the dinner and dancing started in the reception tent, which is always my favorite part. One thing we couldn’t anticipate, though, was the simultaneous performance given by Matt Mason Photography.

Matt and his partner for that day Nick Klesmith did an unbelievable job capturing our bride and groom’s day, as well as showcasing the beauty that The Abbey Resort has to offer. That day, we couldn’t yet see the amazing pictures they had taken (or so we thought…) so all we had to go on was how pleasant and professional Matt and Nick were in working with us and the bride and groom.
Then, they shocked us all by putting on a slideshow at dinner which not only included pictures from the bride and groom’s childhood, but pictures and video from THAT DAY. It was incredible! The pictures were available on his website (www.mattmasonphotography.com) unbelievably quickly, and they were breathtaking. In fact, all of the pictures you see in this blog were taken by them!
It was easy to put on a fun and energetic show with such a capable team surrounding us and a fun-loving bride and groom who were really their to enjoy each other and their company. Even at a place we’ve played multiple times, nothing ever feels old hat. 🙂
Get in Touch!
We’ve always been big fans of The Abbey Resort at Felix and Fingers, but something about unexpectedly seeing old friends and meeting new (extremely talented) friends makes it that much more special!
