Lake Geneva Wisconsin is a mecca of weddings, boasting beautiful scenery and high end venues.  One of the more popular wedding venues is the Geneva Ridge Resort, a branch of Geneva National (The Golf Club is another great wedding venue!).  It’s no wonder why they’re so popular either, I mean who wouldn’t want to get married at a high end resort!  With great views of Lake Como (sister lake to Lake Geneva), a beautiful banquet hall, and a sprawling list of amenities, it’s the perfect venue.  I actually considered Geneva Ridge for my own personal wedding.

Geneva Ridge Wedding Ceremony Set Up

The Ceremony itself was lovely on the Geneva Ridge grounds.  Despite parts of the summer being exceptionally hot and dry, Geneva Ridge had the most lush, green grass ever!  Just walking around the lawn you instantly knew that you weren’t at some regular Lake Geneva wedding venue.  At the altar was a large trellis, decked out with white linens and a chandelier.  Everything was picture perfect.  We were able to set up a piano keyboard for live ceremony music and everything worked out perfectly.

The Ceremony was then followed by the cocktail hour.  This occurred outside with an hors d’oeuvres buffet in a separate room in case guests wanted to get out of the sun.

I’ve always had mixed feelings on outdoor ceremonies due to some very real concerns.  The obvious issues of “will it rain on my wedding” are unavoidable and always in the forefront of your mind, but there are smaller concerns.  As a pianist, we require shade so that the sun doesn’t overheat our keyboards – no one wants the music to stop abruptly in the middle of a processional.  Luckily Geneva Ridge had a tree that provided ample shade, a huge plus.

Likewise I often feel bad for the elderly family members having to sit in the hot sunlight.  The gentlemen in full suits have it exceptionally rough.  Luckily I’ve never seen someone pass out (knock on wood), but it is always a possibility.  However, having some food being served inside during the cocktails is a huge benefit to Geneva Ridge as a wedding venue.  Allowing people to enjoy some A/C as needed is never a bad idea.

A Dueling Pianos Wedding Reception

This wedding followed our usual routine: Jazz for dinner, Dueling for dancing, and DJed music to end the night.  The room was decked out with beautiful wedding decor and the food was great.  The onsite staff were also remarkably organized, it was clear that they’d done this before!  Felix and Fingers took the stage following dinner and the party danced the night away 🙂

Geneva Ridge Resort (and their sister site – Geneva National) are two great wedding venues that are perfect for live entertainment.  We really look forward to all our events in this area, and after our return visits, this is right in our comfort zone.
