Geneva National – A Beautiful Venue for Any Event
Geneva National is a beautiful golf and country club in (you guessed it) Lake Geneva! We love playing in Lake Geneva. It’s such a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of Chicago, and probably Milwaukee too. Some of my favorite weddings and parties have been in Lake Geneva and Geneva National is no exception.
Geneva National and Its Gorgeous Views
After setting up for the wedding we were performing at Geneva National, Jim and I had a chance to walk around the grounds and check out the golf course. Everything was pristine. There were so many awesome photo ops, so I had to choose carefully which ones I included in my blog. I love venues like this, because you can tell that it would be just as beautiful in the middle of winter, covered in snow.
Lets Get Ready to Rumble at Geneva National!!
There were several very unique ideas the bride and groom used at their wedding at Geneva National. One of them was that they had us introduce the bridal party as though they were the starting lineup for an NBA team. Jim and I both love doing “announcer” voices, so we had a lot of fun with it! Here are a few example we had to read:
Ladies and Gentlemen.. Please welcome the groom’s sister, Kim, who is currently working on her masters in speech pathology. And the groomsman who lived with Ben the longest throughout their time at college and in Chicago… Please welcome Jered-I’m-the-only-one-without-a-nickname!
The next set of bridal party members are always the life of the party. Between chipping a tooth on a street sign while singing Let it Go, and throwing huge parties at his sister’s college house, you can always count on Lauren and Ryan for a good time.
You can definitely get a style of the Bride and Groom’s sense of humor and love of sports! It also gave us an opportunity to show everyone that we like to goof off too!
The other interesting thing they had us do at Geneva National had to do with the bouquet and garter tosses. First of all, it wasn’t limited to only single people. Secondly, whoever caught the bouquet got a Starbucks gift card and whoever caught the garter got a Chipotle gift card. (That right… coffee for the ladies and burritos for the gents.) It was a great way to involve a lot of people and to add a competitive edge to the game!
