February tends to be Catholic school fundraiser season for us, and St John Vianney kicked that season off for us this year. In addition to being our first school fundraiser for the season, this was also our first time at The Armory, and our first time meeting the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The Armory
Janesville WI is a city that we’ve driven through dozens of times on our way north to other bookings. In addition to not knowing of any decent venues in Janesville, I had never heard of The Armory, so I went in with low expectations. Thankfully, those expectations were blown away.
The Armory is a beautiful venue. The decorations put together by St. John Vianney really pulled together an already great space into an unforgettable one. And unlike most venues, the Armory had a fully professional sound system and sound engineer to reinforce our show – a huge plus for any venue!

As far as venues go, the Armory is definitely at the top of my list for Southern Wisconsin venues. Wedding at The Armory have got to be beautiful, it would literally seem impossible to make that venue any less than impressive. We’d love for someone to have another fundraiser or wedding there so we can bring back the dueling pianos show!
Hello Mr. Speaker
We have an unusual job in that we come in contact with famous people every so often. Professional Athletes, TV personalities, and politicians are all not unusual. However, today’s event was the first one that involved the secret service.
Felix, Fingers, and Mr. Speaker
We were made aware prior to the event the Speaker of the House would be attending to support the school (I believe he has a child enrolled there). For a while we weren’t completely sure if Mr. Ryan was even attending, then we saw security show up and stand near every exit.
We were hoping Mr. Speaker would join us on stage, so I asked a member of the security detail if it would be appropriate to ask. We were told we could ask, but the guard didn’t seem too optimistic. We decided to leave well enough alone and just opted for a photo instead.

St. John Vianney
The rest of the night was dedicated to raising money for the school. There was a New Orleans theme to the event, and considering how often we go to New Orleans, we were excited to play into the theme. The background jazz really leaned into the New Orleans sound, meanwhile the dueling show was a good segue to get people singing and dancing. It was a great night with a lot of money getting raised!

Weddings to fundraisers to corporate events, Janesville is now in our sights, especially now that we know about The Armory. Seriously, if you’re hosting an event in this area, you owe it to yourself to check out the venue. We anxiously await our next event!
