Felix and Fingers player Mike S. is from Cincinnati so the Carnegie Dueling Piano Show was a homecoming for him. It was great to be playing for so many of his friends and family.
The Carnegie Dueling Piano Show
This was a theater style show for which people buy tickets and we perform on stage. These types of shows are so fun as everyone always sings along the whole night. Our performers Mike and James had more requests during this show than they had ever seen before. Because of this, they shortened all songs to one minute during the second set. At the end of the evening, they were singing short 15 second versions of songs in order to get in as many of the requests that they could. The crowd went wild for this! There are so many rapid fire requests during a theater style show. And when you have an audience of 200 people all wanting to hear their songs, it’s seems impossible to get to all of them. That is, unless, you have a Felix and Fingers duo performing super short versions.
We had some favorites for sure. To begin, we sang the opening version of “Hamilton.” Since this production will come to the area in a couple of months, we joked that we were saving them $150 as they no longer needed to go see it. Also, we performed the song All for the Best from “Godspell.” Mike loves this one and since James had played Jesus in high school, together they totally rocked it. What a great trip it was. Especially for Mike. It was the first public show in his hometown area and he had total command. It was truly a sight to see.
Phenomenal Venue
The Carnegie Theater is an historic property. Built in 1904 as a library, it is now committed to providing an exceptional venue for the arts. It is a beautiful smaller theater that was perfectly situated for an intimate Dueling Pianos show. Normally, we do the entire set up and tear down for our shows. But one super perk of having a theater show is having a whole crew to run your sound, lights, and help set up and tear down. The Carnegie theater crew was so helpful and worked like crazy all night. Quite the pros! We just can’t wait to play there again. Click here to find out more about this phenomenal venue. They have so much to offer that you’re sure to find something of interest.
