Marshall Cuffe is a versatile musician whose lifelong passion for music began at the age of six when he first started playing piano. His early promise was evident when he made his classical debut at 17, performing in six concerts with the Oregon Symphony. His exceptional skill earned him two prizes at the Seattle International Piano Competition, and his musical talents extended beyond piano. At just 12 years old, he began studying the organ, and by 18, he had been named a “Rising Star” by the American Guild of Organists, performing a featured recital at their national convention.
Marshall continued to hone his craft at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy before pursuing formal studies at Lawrence Conservatory. There, he earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance while also earning a BA in Psychology. His time at Lawrence also saw him delving into music composition, culminating in the performance of his original operetta. A standout moment in his academic career was winning the conservatory-wide concerto competition, which led to a performance as a soloist with the Lawrence Symphony.
After graduating, Marshall relocated to Portland, Oregon, where he has established himself both as an instructor and a performer. On stage, his virtuosic technique is matched by his infectious energy, joyful approach to music-making, and sharp comedic timing. In Portland, he performs regularly, hosting a popular piano-bar-style karaoke event, as well as a long-running musical cabaret and dueling piano shows.
