Jim and I recently took a little road trip through Ohio, and one of our stops was playing a wedding reception at Christ the Servant Catholic Parish in Canton, OH. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Catholics know how to party.
Christ the Servant, More than just a Church
Many of our couples get married in a church and then head over the the reception site. Christ the Servant had a great area for the reception right next to the church. You could barely tell that it was also used as a gymnasium. The staff all knew how
to put on a top notch wedding reception. When we arrived, everything was set up just like many of the high end banquet halls we’ve been in. The staff were able to give us great direction for what we needed to do.
Party Time at Christ the Servant
We had a great time singing along with everyone all night. The dance floor was packed, at it usually is at a Felix and Fingers Wedding. In the first twenty minutes we played everything from “Shut Up and Dance,” to “Old Time Rock and Roll” to “Chicken Fried!” It was about as eclectic as it gets when it comes to song requests! A highlight of the evening was when I jumped out on the dance floor to lead everyone in “The Cupid Shuffle” while Jim played it live. I even showed off a bit with my “Real Slim Shady” rap. One of the guests rapped every word along to it with me!
We had so much fun with everyone all night and the bride’s father’s fiancé was trying to book us for her own wedding before we could even pack up our gear!
And it Comes to and End…
Our time at Christ the Servant needed to end eventually. I grew up in a big Catholic family, so I’m never surprised at how amazing huge groups of Catholics are.
