In the middle of May, Greg and I made our way up to Carlson Towers in Minnetonka, MN for a beautiful indoor/outdoor wedding. Having only driven through Minnesota before, I didn’t know much about attractions in the Minneapolis area aside from the Mall of America and good ol’ fashioned Minnesota friendliness. From now on though, Carlson Towers will come to mind immediately… and you’ll see why!
Carlson Towers
Our day started outside at the ceremony which took place in the amphitheater outside. (You heard me correctly. The Carlson Towers AMPHITHEATER.) One of the most beautiful ceremony sites I’ve ever seen, it gave the illusion of actually floating on water. The sound carried beautifully and the amphitheater provided an amazing backdrop for pictures. It’s hard to imagine a more magical place to get married!
When the ceremony was over, guests just walked up the stairs behind them to enjoy cocktail hour outside overlooking the water. During set up, we were a little concerned about how our background music would carry up against the rotunda and above the amphitheater. Luckily, the staff at Carlson Towers was well seasoned and quickly helped us solve where to point the speakers to make sure all the guests could hear it, but not get blasted away during this relaxed portion of the evening.
Party Time!
Finally, for the reception we set up inside the rotunda for the dueling pianos portion of the evening. This room was breathtaking. A high domed ceiling gives guests the feeling of practically being in a castle, while the ground floor maintains those gorgeous views of Carlson Towers from the earlier events of the day along with an impressive fountain (which yes, can be turned on and off.)
Lasting Impressions Weddings
Felix and Fingers is willing and accustomed to helping to make sure things run on time throughout the day of our weddings. It’s an unexpected bonus if we get to work with a wedding coordinator, and a special treat to work with one who is truly on top of things. Sarah Trotter of Lasting Impressions Weddings was an absolute gem! She acted as a liaison between the bride and groom, caterers, venue managers and ourselves to make sure we were all “singing in harmony” if you will. 😛 She was so friendly and easy to work with, I would recommend her to anyone in the Minneapolis area planning a wedding in the near future.
