Felix and Fingers recently dueled at a Brennan’s French Quarter wedding down in New Orleans, LA. Since 1946, Brennan’s Restaurant has been a New Orleans tradition for locals and visitors alike. They pride themselves in their delicious twist on Creole cuisine, a mix of French and Spanish dishes. Brennan’s Restaurant made a great venue for this couple’s wedding. Brennan’s French Quarter Wedding
On a warm but foggy day, we arrived early to set up for this couple’s outside wedding, despite their original wedding date getting rained out by Hurricane Nate. However, due to unexpected rain on this new day as well, the couple had to quickly reorganize the ceremony venue. They contacted their backups, and the Royal Sonesta Hotel graciously hosted the ceremony in a beautiful banquet room. Hotel staff aided event staff, and the ceremony space was ready just in time. Large bouquets of red, pink, and white flowers lined the aisle and the stairs leading to the banquet hall. Chairs were set in neat rows, and a raised dais was set at the end of the aisle as a makeshift alter. Everyone at the hotel was so kind and helpful. A Hurricane of Hip Hop
After the ceremony, guests were shuttled to Brennan’s Restaurant. The reception was held on one of the outside patios. Thankfully, Brennan’s already has built in tents so guests stayed warm and dry. Once everyone was settled, the bride and groom entered, dinner was served, and the cake was cut. The bride, as a gift to her husband, ordered a special cake, designed to look like a concert ticket for his favorite band. How sweet!
Once cake was finished, a NOLA-style brass band, as is tradition in the French Quarter, marched in as our opening act. We played off the high energy from the band and started with quite a few up beat songs as we eased into our set. With the dance floor the entire night, many guests gave great suggestions. 90’s pop and hip hop were among the most popular genre requests. Guests showed off their moves all night, and all we could hear over our dueling was laughing. This crowd was so genuinely happy and excited for this couple, and they showed their celebration through their dancing. The day was such fun and we wish the couple all the happiness in the world. If a hurricane couldn’t keep these two lovebirds apart, we doubt anything can!
