Following the big easy to its most southerly point, Felix and Fingers was happy to facilitate a beautiful New Orleans wedding at the classic venue Bourbon Vieux. In such a historical place, the party was guaranteed to be a smash. The wedding itself was a bit of a destination, most of the guests were from the Midwest, Wisconsin to be precise. The party atmosphere of Bourbon Street was a great backdrop, and all the guests enjoyed themselves immensely.
Bourbon Vieux in NOLA
The venue was Bourbon Vieux, located on the world famous Bourbon Street. In classic NOLA tradition, a great Second Line Band paraded from ceremony to the reception. You take a crowd of beer lovers from Wisconsin, pair them with a parade in a city where drinking on the street is not only acceptable, but encouraged. Well, we had ourselves a very good time. Guests were quickly becoming the revelers this wedding deserved. With riotous singing and overall friendliness with the bride and groom, we knew we had a party on our hands.
Wisconsin Wedding On Bourbon Street
The venue was located upstairs and of course, there was no elevator. If you have ever been, you know the architecture of the city is very old and commonly flooded. We enjoyed the challenge of getting our pianos up the narrow stairwell, and now that we have done it once, we are ready to do it again! Once the guests had made it to Bourbon Vieux, we had to turn up the jazz. Playing uptempo jazz tunes, our fingers kept up the room’s atmosphere. The wedding had a Great Gatsby theme and everyone was dressed in very dapper 20’s style clothing.
As we began playing, the requests for songs came pouring in, and we were happy to play all the hits. Wanting top 100 hits and easy to sing along tunes, we played it all, from Selena Gomez to Adele. The more they drank, the more they danced. It was a great wedding and these cheeseheads gave Bourbon Vieux a night to remember.
