The Waterloo Convention Center, a venue known for its grandeur and elegance, recently hosted an unforgettable evening of dueling pianos, courtesy of the talented Felix And Fingers. This wasn’t just any event, but a fundraiser filled with music, laughter, and a surprising twist – an adorable Mini Golden Doodle!

A Night to Remember: Dueling Pianos and More

The event kicked off with a mellow set of dinner music by Felix And Fingers, setting the stage for a leisurely evening. The crowd, though subdued at first, gradually warmed up as the night progressed. The event moved at a relaxed pace, with presentations following the initial set.

The Unexpected Star: A Mini Golden Doodle

The live auction, though not professionally run, was a highlight of the evening. It raised a significant amount of money, with one of the most unique bidding items being a live, adorable puppy. This 8-week old Mini Golden Doodle, though seemingly scared, was the biggest hit of the night, fetching nearly 4k!

From Mellow to Disco: The Crowd Gets Moving

Despite initial concerns that the lengthy auction might dampen the crowd’s energy, Felix And Fingers soon had them dancing to disco and requesting hip-hop. The audience, although they had depleted their cash at the cash-bar, generously contributed to the fundraiser, with the “one more song!” crowd laying down hundreds for two extra songs.

Felix And Fingers took the audience on a musical journey, with requests ranging from Ben Folds to Spice Girls and Ludacris. The 90s and early 2000s proved to be the most popular era, with hit tunes from Jay Z and Sir Mix-a-Lot lighting up the dance floor.

The event was a success, with Felix And Fingers helping raise a substantial amount for the Junior League of Waterloo-Cedar Falls. Despite the challenges of the venue, such as the tough load in/out and the long distances to the second-floor ballroom, the event was a memorable one.
