Holiday parties and Christmas events take over our calendar in December, with this event bringing us to the DoubleTree Cedar Rapids IA. Hired to entertain Ryan Companies US, Felix and Fingers took the stage to deliver a great show that kept people singing and dancing all night!

Playing beautiful venues is a wonderful perk to being a dueling pianist and the DoubleTree fit right in. Located in downtown Cedar Rapids IA, the Double Tree had us set up in a banquet hall over looking the city. After a quick elevator ride from the Double Tree’s impressive entrance, our banquet hall was located on the 16th floor of the hotel. It was perfectly suited for the 75 person event that was being hosted. Complimented with a gorgeous bar area just outside the banquet hall, the Double Tree Cedar Rapids definitely had class. I could easily see this as a popular wedding venue, and I’m sure it is!

Iowa Corporate Holiday Events
Corporate holiday parties are a tricky crowd and entertainment is difficult to find, especially for smaller groups. An intimate event of 75 people means that you can’t really get lost on the dance floor, and when the entire management staff is present, dancing can be a bit intimidating. But this is where dueling pianos comes in!
Dueling Pianos Hit The Stage
The group ended up being a blast to entertain. After a slow start where guests were still deciding whether or not to get involved, we started to call up some volunteers and work the interactive nature of the show. By the end of the night everyone was circled around the pianos singing and dancing with the music. But how can you not have a great time if the boss is dancing to “sexy and I know it” or the secretaries are all being taught choreography to “Joy to the world”?

It’s shows like these that make our job fun. Being able to travel to the Double Tree Cedar Rapids might not sound like the most exotic place in the world, but without having shows to take us there, I likely never visit the city. And then there’s the added bonus of adding some joy to people’s holiday season. Big events are definitely exciting, but sometimes it’s the intimate audience that really reminds you what dueling pianos is all about. It’s just hard to beat the old fashioned feel good sing along when trying to pull people together.
