Large family weddings are always a delight to play for. This particular wedding was located in Streamwood, IL, and the party was well attended. The venue for the evening was The Seville and it was a really terrific space. The staff was very professional and they know their way around a wedding. With top notch decor and a well-run venue, we look forward to playing more weddings here.
As the guests began to arrive, they seemingly didn’t stop. We play many weddings but when the crowd size is over 300 people, that’s a big crowd. As the tables filled, we began to entertain. The bride and groom had their own unique story, and it percolated into the crowd as well. The bride is a police officer and the groom is a firefighter. Many people in the crowd were also part of the public servant industry, and these folks sure like weddings (shout out to those in Public Service!). Both sides of the wedding were well represented and the friends of the wedding party were perfectly rambunctious.
Break Dancing in Streamwood
Playing the cocktail hours is different for every wedding. For some, we play relaxed background music, facilitating conversation and mingling. Well, for this wedding, we facilitated a break dancing circle during cocktail hour. Playing hip hop beats and recommended songs by the dancers, the floor was turned in a regular gymnastics spectacle. Floor circles, flairs, even back flips were common, and it really set the mood for the rest of the evening.
After the craziness of cocktail hour, the guests returned to their respective tables to indulge in some high quality food. Served family style, salads and pastas practically lined the walls and everyone was well fed. We kept up the friendly atmosphere as speeches were made and the food was being digested. The groom loved country music and requested us to learn “mistress called music”, which we did. It was a great song and the wedding party loved the diversity of music. We packed the dance floor as the night continued, making sure everyone in the party was involved.
