Great weddings start with great venues. Royal Melbourne Country Club joins the top of our list for elegant Country Club weddings with stunning views. Located in Long Grove IL (Near Buffalo Grove and Lincolnshire), Royal Melbourne is a perfect venue to get away from Chicago but still have a high end wedding ceremony and wedding reception.

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t exceptionally cooperative and the ceremony had to be moved from the beautiful Wedding Garden to the banquet hall. Though not the brides first choice, the room worked perfectly.
Personally I enjoy indoor ceremonies, but not for the reason you might think. These last minute changes always test the venue and the organization of the staff. Royal Melbourne nailed it! The change in plans didn’t even feel like a change as everything transitioned so smoothly, which is the sign a a great wedding venue.
A Royal Wedding Reception
Dinner was phenomenal, which was to be expected. Prior to dinner the Bride and Groom’s parents requested a timeline that I’d never tried before, though was promised wouldn’t fail.
Apparently a recent wedding that the parents had attended included two “pre-dinner” dance tunes. The parents requested that we follow suit with a couple DJed tunes (Bruno Mars with Uptown Funk and Shut Up And Dance by Walk the Moon). And to my surprise, as soon as we started to DJ the music, the parents rushed the stage and many more guests followed suit. There was a great energy even before the introductions – we were ready for an amazing night of dancing!

This was definitely one of those great weddings you wish for every couple. Weather aside, the reception room was beautiful and fit the full piano shell set up wonderfully. Set up surrounded with uplights, you just couldn’t go wrong!
And as promised by the dancing before the intros, this was a wedding guest list that came to have a great time. Dave and I took requests all night and I don’t believe there was a single time the dance floor emptied. Tune after tune, people were there to celebrate a wonderful wedding, and that’s exactly what happened.
