Felix definitely brought the “fun” in fundraiser for this Princeton Park District Foundation Fundraiser. Princeton, Illinois is a lovely town in Bureau County just off of Interstate 80. Their park district staff put together a fabulous outing for the local community and together we raised a ton of money.
Princeton Park District Foundation Fundraiser
First of all, we have to say how friendly we found everyone to be. Tammy and her staff at the park district are delightful. So easy to work with and they did an awesome job decorating the facility. The facility we played in is their local recreational building and has a full size basketball court, an Olympic size swimming pool, a sauna, a steam room, and also a cardio room and racquetball courts. Elaine, the facility manager, was so nice and gave us a tour of the whole place. What a great spot to bring together their local community.
And the facility is the reason we were there. The fundraiser was specifically held to raise money for a new roof. We had a blast with that and joked the whole night long that we needed to “raise the roof.” Get it? The staff insisted on helping us load in and out which was SUPER NICE of them. Our performer, Jennifer, wanted to hire them full time as our roadies. Sorry, Jennifer, but you’re going to keep having to haul your own equipment. Drinking Games and Bearded Men
This was a Dilly of an evening. Whenever our performer, Greg, played the intro piano phrase from the TV show “Cheers,” the crowd all yelled “Dilly, Dilly” and then had a drink. We thought that they might settle down but they kept at it enthusiastically the whole night long. Jennifer had begun the show a little bit slower that she usually does. Someone donated money if she would begin with her favorite song so she was happy to play New York State of Mind by Billy Joel. A slower than normal song for the beginning of our show but hey, we’ll do anything for a fundraiser.
Speaking of raising money, Jennifer raised $50 by having all of the bearded men come up to the stage. She had them dancing to the Spice Girls and if there was a bearded man that didn’t come up, she told them they would have to go home and shave it off. As a testament to how fun this group was, they all participated and it was crazy. The crowd loved it. Great job bearded men of Princeton! Overall, this was such a warm and fun group of people to spend our evening entertaining. And, to top it off, we received a great compliment. They told us that they had had a different dueling piano company (is there really another?!) in the past but they loved us and can’t wait for us to return. That’s what we love to hear!
