Nothing’s better than golfing for three days straight at an invitational, and THEN celebrating with Felix and Fingers inside a beautiful room at the Mt. Hawley Country Club. Ok, maybe SOME things are better than that. But it’s still a pretty good deal.
Once again, I had the pleasure of working with Robert Deason, a phenomenal dueling pianist that we call in from time to time to play a show with us. He knows a ton of tunes and has a crazy high voice. Perfect for every Queen song there is.
We arrived in the beautiful banquet room, outlooking some amazing landscapes surrounding the course. We were told the group might be tired, but we didn’t care. The goal was still to have as much fun as possible. Did we succeed? Oh yeah. The group may not have been the most eager to leave it all on the dance floor after three days of golf, but that didn’t stop their voices from singing out to all their favorite tunes as the requests came in. It’s always fun playing to a more middle-aged crowd, because they’re always bound to make a request you’ve never heard of. We had, however, heard of the Frozen Soundtrack, and were happy to sing both “Let it Go” and “Love is an Open Door” as the separate requests came in. I had never really performed the second of the two, but I didn’t really need to before performing it. You hear it everywhere nowadays.
Thankfully, we were still able to have a rousing competition between the two sides of the room during “Brown Eyed Girl.” The deal is, we split the two sides, giving them each a name. Team Felix, and Team Fingers. Just FYI, Team Felix always wins. Then, we explain that once we reach the chorus of the song, each time gets a turn at singing the “Sha la la la” chorus. The winner is decided after three rounds. Again, Team Felix always wins 🙂
Just one of the old schticks that we love doing at each show. But there’s more….much more. You’ll have to keep scanning the archives to find out more, OR just book us for your next event! To get a quick quote from us, just email or call us here. Cheers!
