ICPR Family Practice in Pekin, IL loves to get involved in their community and make a positive impact. One thing they specialize in at ICPR is arthritis care, so it only makes sense that they take an active role in helping out and participating in the Peoria Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis, which happens annually in December. For the past two years, ICPR has invited Felix and Fingers to perform for a fundraiser they throw for the event called Jingle the Night Away (you can read about last year’s event here!) But if ICPR is going to do something more than once, they’re going to do it bigger and better every time. And that’s just what they did, with the help of Pekin’s own Avanti’s Dome!
Avanti’s Dome
At last years event, we had about 100 people in attendance. This year, that number more than doubled! Avanti’s Dome provided the perfect setting to host the increase in volume, and the increase in fun! 🙂 We met Sheri and Vicky there who were absolute dreams to work with, making sure everything was running smoothly and always with smiles on their faces. The facility not only offers a beautiful banquet hall great for weddings, fundraisers or any number of events, but also an enormous sports dome! It was easily big enough for a football or soccer game, and we were told Avanti’s Dome had most recently played host to a dog show!
Jingle the Night Away
Much care and attention was paid by Avanti’s Dome to make sure that everything was ready for the big fundraiser, so it was time for Felix and Fingers to really get things going. I’ve mentioned before that it’s never the same show twice, and that’s especially true for events we do more than once. Every fundraiser is different, so we’ll use different methods of fundraising depending on what is appropriate. We knew it was a fun crowd from last year, and since it had more than doubled in size, we figured we could probably raise some decent funds through requests and tips. Let me tell you, if you’re trying to raise funds in Central Illinois, a bidding war over baseball is unbelievably effective. There is a serious rivalry between Cubs and Cardinals fans, so you can bet “Go Cubs Go” stirred up some controversy! Thank goodness it was all for a good cause!

After that dust settled, it was a night full of singing, dancing, and bidding to get coworkers and friends up with us to perform in one form or another! It was an amazing event this year at Avanti’s Dome, and Greg and I really felt part of it- especially after having gotten to know many of the attendees from last year. When it was all said and done, we ended up raising more than 5 times the amount raised last year at the pianos, and having an absolute blast! I can only imagine what Jingle the Night Away will look like next year…
