Main Stage for Boys and Girls Club Dinner
The Dundee Township chapter of the Boys and Girls club invited Felix and Fingers to take part in their annual fundraiser. Held at the Otto Building in Carpentersville, The Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township produced an event to be admired.
Otto Building, Carpentersville
Let’s start with the Otto Building, the venue hosting the event. Holy Cow! I’ve lived in this area my entire life and had no clue that the Otto Building existed. I wish I was able to get some history on this long factory-style building, but from ceiling to floor, this venue is a fundraising dream (or wedding for that matter!).

I assume “The Otto Building” is part of Otto Engineering, though I don’t know how often they host events. Oddly enough, a Bride and Groom found us in the parking lot asking to see the building (because they were having difficulty contacting management). Hopefully they were able to get the hall booked!
Decked out with purple uplights, fancy chairs, a full stage and dining area, the Otto Building was immediately impressive. And congrats to the Boys and Girls Club team members who were able to pull off such great decorations!

Dueling Pianos for Cocktails
Dueling Pianos Fundraising Style
This was a fun show because we only had to play the cocktail hour while people visited the silent auction items. Our job was simply to keep the energy up and the focus on the silent auction – done! Typically I don’t recommend dueling during cocktails because it’s a bit too over bearing, but in the right room and the right set up, a toned down version of the show can really work. There was a band following our show, and though we weren’t able to stick around for them, I’d like to think we would have rocked that room just as hard!

Fundraising in McHenry County
Fundraisers are some of our favorite shows to play and we’ve helped raise money literally around the country. However, local shows are always the best! It’s a blessing to be able to raise money inside the community where I grew up and I’m thankful that dueling pianos is such a great medium to do so!
