A Drury Lane Wedding
In Oakbrook Terrace, there is a beautiful venue known as Drury Lane. Professionally run and with the space for big crowds, this most recent wedding I played at was beautiful. Large weddings I am used to but there is nothing quite like a large Italian wedding; and when I say Oakbrook Terrace is perfect for outstanding aweddings, I mean it.
Oakbrook Terrace
With over 200 people in attendance, this wedding was anything but tame. You get a large group of Italians inside a venue and anything can happen. I was very impressed with the management of the place and the flexibility given to such a large party.
Being a versatile musician, I like to engage the crowd in rambunctious dance music or gentle sounds that facilitate the mood. For cocktails, it was my job to keep the music flowing while the wedding party regaled in the joy around them. The reason I bring this up is because of the White Grand Piano located in the lobby, playing this instrument was a treat in itself.
Magical Wedding Moments
The wedding was great, and the family was even better, I heard “Scuzzi” a few times and I knew I was in the right place. WeI take pride in being the entertainment for the night, and we made sure the Bride and Groom were the highlight of the evening. We helped set the mood for a large slideshow, documenting the two falling in love. We also had a little fun, we play a game “Kissing by Example” where the other couples in the room encourage the bride and groom to kiss by first doing so themselves.
For the slow dance, I played “That’s Amore” and it was as big a hit as you would expect. Everyone who could dance was on the floor, and we were happy to create such a magical moment. The whole night went off without any problems, all the guests were smiling and the room was filled with incredible energy. With so many people in one place, I thought it would feel crowded but the atmosphere was always right. Drury Lane knows how to throw wedding!
