Felix and Fingers just can’t seem to get enough of these summer park concert series! We recently were asked to play for the Village of Lincolnwood, IL Summer Concert Series at Proesel Park. Gotta love good some good old fashion picnic tables, picnic blankets, and lawn chairs all set out and ready to be enjoyed along with some Lincolnwood dueling pianos action! When we first walked up to the stage a couple hours before start time, we didn’t know what to expect. We started unpacking our gear, hoping out loud that at least 10 people would show up… Boy were we surprised. Fifteen minutes before start time, it seemed like the whole community walked over from across the street or something. They came by the dozens, though we’ll admit not all of them came for dueling pianos. Some (in the 12 and under category) came for games and a put put course 100 yards to the left of the stage. Oh well. Can’t win over every 12 year old’s heart with Billy Joel and Bon Jovi. Kids these days…

Anyway, the night turned out to be a piece of cake as far as getting folks to have a good time. People laughed in the right places. We must have been in unusually good form that night because one woman laughed at everything, literally everything we said. We’ll take it! The rest of the night was per usual, with lots of laughs, sing-a-longs, dancing, and even some jazz (per request). Someone (*cough, Fingers), likes to announce that someone else in our company, by some miracle, stumbled his way onto season 5 of American Idol singing Sinatra tunes. Fingers doesn’t like to prep me for when he’s about to go all auto-biographical on me, but just simply says something like “tell your story about that thing you did once.” And then I tell the story and sing Sinatra. It’s all fun and everything, but I just wish I had something to embarrass him with as well… I’ve got it! It all started when…wait, that should be a blog post all on its own. Guess you’ll have to keep scanning the archives to find out what really happened that one summer in Venezuela!
