Mickey Finn’s Brewery in Libertyville, IL not only holds a reputation for brewing some great ales and lagers, but brews up some perfect newlyweds with their tantalizing event space. Often times we as Dueling Piano entertainers have the privilege of visiting some pretty spot-on venues, and Mickey Finn’s was no exception. I had been there once before to see a couple of goofy guitar guys that are great friends of the F&F family in the main bar/seating area and was just wowed at how well-built this place was. It was pretty cool to get a chance to play in their private event space with great views of all the brewing equipment. The family style food and drinks boded quite well with the space and it was all quite delicious. The staff and owners were more than accommodating and did an incredible job decorating the place for these Crystal Lake newlyweds.
High School Reunion at Mickey Finn’s?
This particular wedding was a bit more extra special for me because as it turned out, I actually went to high school with the Bride! ..and the photographer! I even got to see one of my friends from my own graduating class. It was a nice little impromptu Prairie Ridge reunion. Go Wolves!
This was the first time I had actually gotten a chance to play a wedding where I actually personally knew some of the people there! The crowd on this night was just wonderful, requesting everything from Luke Bryan and Hall & Oats to Sir Mix-A-Lot and even some Biggie! These folks danced around our mini piano shells all night long and the bride was no stranger to the dance floor. A key factor factor in having your guests out on that dance floor is to get out there yourself and show them how it’s done! There’s nothing better than all of your guests wanting to get in on all the fun if they see you taking center stage. Robert and I loved taking everyone’s requests all night, and even busting out the “Whip/Nae Nae” when it was absolutely necessary. (It’s never optional.) Everyone at Mickey Finn’s helped to put on a rock star show and we all made some lasting memories for Nate & Claire.
I have to say that I cannot wait until we have a chance to play another rockin’ Dueling Pianos show at Mickey Finn’s in Libertyville. If you want to have a memorable event with your closest friends, I would highly recommend you check the place out and send them an email HERE.
