Felix and Fingers recently dueled at a Kendall County Fairgrounds wedding. The organization in charge, Kendall County Fair Inc., aims to further the community’s knowledge of agriculture and home economics. They ensure fun is had by all with various carnival rides, tractor pulls, live music and a demolition derby. For information on when the fair is open, please visit their website.
Kendall County Fairgrounds Wedding
Located in Yorkville, IL, Kendall County Fairgrounds is a popular wedding spot for couples in the area. For this particular bride and groom, the fairground is filled with nostalgia, so they decided to host both their ceremony and reception in the same space. First, the building was set with white chairs facing a backdrop of white rose pedals and green ivy. We overheard guests praising the couple for this great venue, and we couldn’t agree more. White Christmas lights hung from the wooden rafters and white fabric draped between the strands. The simple yet romantic atmosphere made for a beautiful ceremony.
Second, the staff converted the building into the reception space by bringing out round tables and arranging the chairs around them. Staff added tall, skinny silver vases holding branches and white flowers to the tables. And because the theme of the wedding was Star Wars, the couple placed lightsabers on the tables for everyone to take home.
May the Force be with You
After everything was set up, we introduced the couple and announced dinner. Food was served from two food trucks just outside the building as well as a small buffet table inside. The food trucks made excellent food, and the buffet table held a mashed potato bar. Once dinner was finished, the couple asked everyone to watch them cut the cake: a four-tier cake with white frosting and flowers on one side that opened to reveal a galaxy far, far away on the back. How cool!
While cake was served, we began our set. Many of the guests came to dance with us form the very beginning and stayed until the end of the night. At one point in the night, one of our players jumped on the drums, which made it more fun for the guests. As the night came to a close, the energetic guests posed for pictures with the couple and their lightsabers. Overall, this night was such a fun celebration, and we are thankful to have been a part of it.
