Approaching the Starline Factory in Harvard, IL did not suggest to me that it would be a perfect setting for a wedding. For all I knew, it could have been a tuna canning factory. I’m not familiar with the town of Harvard, IL and I was certainly not familiar with Starline Factory.
But as soon as I walked in the door, I was immediately reminded not to judge a book by its cover. The building is entirely refurbished (at least on the inside) and has been used to host all kinds of corporate events, weddings, and more. This seemed to be the sole purpose of the renovation, and it was done extremely well.
The ceremony room was not affiliated with any church, but it was prepped to fit any wedding ceremony. Filled with pews, the room was spacious and charming.
For the ceremony, I accompanied a violinist to provide classical background music, as well as the music that was requested for the entrance of the bride, lighting of the candles, and the exit of the newlyweds.
Immediately following this, everyone gathered in the cocktail room, while they enjoyed drinks to jazz music that we DJ’d. During this brief intermission, we brought over the piano which was used in the ceremony and set it up in the main reception room, where people would be eating, and we’d ultimately provide our dueling piano fun that would keep the crowd dancing and singing for the entire night.
This room was quite large. But with all the guests that they had, it was just as large as it needed to be. Here is a picture of the room, before guests arrived, as Mike and I were setting things up.
As usual, we brought our wireless microphones to accommodate those who would be giving their speeches and for the prayer before dinner. And while the first speech of the night, brought a tremendous amount of laughter and put everyone at ease. The rest of the speeches were very emotional and had everyone in tears. Even I felt choked up.
It was a beautiful moment, and through a wide array of emotions, it is safe to say we laughed, we cried. It was an unforgettable night for bride and groom, their families and guests.
Let The Party Begin!
At last, it was time for us to do our thing; provide an all-request music show that would keep people dancing and having fun for the entire night. But only after we provided the music for the first dances that they had requested.
By this point in the night, it was obvious that they spared no expense in providing top of the line services. Felix and Fingers would have to provide entertainment that would meet the expectations that were demanded by the catering, the venue management, and the photography crew. And let me just take a moment to say, idealimpressions provided the best photo/video presentations that I have seen out of any wedding I have attended (and there have been many.)
They hit the floor immediately, and they did not stop dancing and enjoying the night until it had to come to a close. With such a large crowd, and a big night, we made sure to keep the music enjoyable for everyone. While most of the songs were Top 40 requests, we also took some moments to allow couples to slow dance.
At the end of the night, when Mike and I were leaving, we both had a strange feeling that we weren’t in Illinois. Yes, we do travel a lot. But in this particular case, which was only about a 50-minute drive for Mike, neither of us could shake off the feeling that we were far away from home.
There was certainly something extraordinary about this wedding.
Final Recommendations
I have to say, if you are in the area, or even a fair drive away, do consider the Starline Factory for your wedding. You won’t be disappointed.
Also, as mentioned, idealimpressions delivered the best photo/video services I have seen. They even provided a music-synced video show during the night to entertain the crowd with great pictures and video that had been taken already just that night. That must have taken some real expertise to prepare it so quickly! It was great to see what everyone was up to and the fun moments that others might have missed while they were enjoying their own moments.
And finally, when it comes to booking entertainment, you can’t go wrong with Felix And Fingers. Let us know about your upcoming event, and we’ll ensure that you and your guests have the time of your life!
