Backyard Birthday in Deerfield
It’s always a wonderful treat when we get play at someone’s special day. David missed a milestone birthday (he made us promise not to say which year it was) during COVID, but now that restrictions are being lifted, he wanted to make up for lost time with the best backyard birthday in Deerfield that anyone’s ever seen! It’s safe to say he completely succeeded!
Tequila Sunrise to Tequila Sunset
We set up on the patio of the birthday boy’s house in beautiful Deerfield, IL. We always bring our own lights, sound equipment, and of course pianos, so it was a very easy setup. His huge backyard was the perfect venue for some summer fun! He’d hired caterers to prepare and help serve some Tex-Mex fundamentals. We’ve never met a burrito we didn’t like, but the dishes made way more sense when they revealed the full Tequila bar. Turns out David is a HUGE tequila fan. By the time we got started there were over 20 different varieties to choose from! Needless to say, people were in great spirits by the end of the night.
Don’t Stop Believin’
The audience for this party was amazing! Everyone was huge classic rock and 80s music fans–which is more than ok with us. People were rocking out all night, but as those tequila bottles started to empty we got more and more incredible sing alongs from the whole backyard. It started with We Built This City by Starship, but Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline was really when everyone went crazy … in the best way possible! Luckily the neighbors went were out of town for the weekend. Shortly after that, they brought out an amazing birthday cake and we serenaded David to our own special rendition of Happy Birthday. The grand finale was a special request from David himself, which he even helped perform: Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey.
