Paris… Illinois, that is. Actually, it’s on the border of Chrisman, IL but we were told Paris, and that has such a nice ring to it. What a fun name for a venue that sports a huge warehouse space with a country road flair. A wedding at Barrett Brothers Malfunction Junction in Paris, IL surely won’t disappoint any hopeful couple looking to customize every aspect of their big day. The venue lends itself to being able to have multiple configurations and limitless opportunities for decorations. One of the more fun applications is, of course, staging a super fun Dueling Pianos Show with Felix and Fingers. This particular wedding was a big job for us as we had needed to set up for the reception several hours before the wedding even began due to the ceremony site being located 30 minutes away! These people sure love their country weddings! As well as putting together a full light show for dancing in the evening, we were honored to be charged with coordinating around 500 people all through dinner. It just goes to show that there is no show too big or too small for Felix And Fingers.
The Warehouse at Barrett Brothers Malfunction Junction
Holy cow this place is huge. Being able to accommodate a few hundred people is certainly a plus for couples who want to invite their ENTIRE family to share the celebration of their big day. Being out in the middle of the country towns of Paris and Chrisman opens up the possibilities for special touches to a big wedding. One of the options that our bride and groom chose was to have a slide show playing their special memories during the cocktail hour. They had raised a huge white sheet above our pianos and we were able to set up our projector to show their awesome photos and play their selected music through our sound system. We could tell this was a key point in the evening because a slew of patrons gathered around the screen smiling and sharing memories with each other. Malfunction Junction also had a full size kitchen and were able to prep excellent food for the masses that evening with no “malfunctions” at all. 🙂
There are large garage doors on either side of the building to allow easy load in and load out of big items, like giant cupcake displays! The staff at Malfunction Junction were even open to having a surprise fireworks show in the middle of the night! I have to say, it was spectacular and the Bride was visibly excited and surprised that they could have made this happen. The fireworks show came at the end of their “sparkler send off,” which is a great option for anyone to get some great romantic shots of the guests of honor. Luckily the rain had long ceased before these very cool events had a chance to take place.
Good Old-Fashioned Fun
At the end of the day, weddings are a Felix And Fingers specialty, and each one is carefully coordinated with all the vendors every step of the way. We like to pride ourselves on being detail-oriented when it comes to special speeches, making sure the photographer and videographer are ready for the first dances, and even Emcee-ing for the famous dollar dance. The crew at Malfunction Junction made everything easier by being very communicative between the bride and groom and the rest of our vendors.
