Felix and Fingers has played all kinds of venues since our company’s inception, from the outdoors, to hotels, to parking lots, to barns, to country clubs. In all the places we’ve played, few have been as extravagant or as breathtaking as the view from the 16th floor of the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago. In November, Mike Sherman and I entertained a corporate holiday party in the Trump Hotel’s 16th floor Grand Ballroom, and got to see first hand why it was such a sought after venue for just about any event!
Trump International Hotel & Tower
The hotel itself is nestled in the heart of downtown Chicago, steps away from much of what the city has to offer. The building literally towers over the city, offering incredible views of the Chicago River, Lake Michigan, and of course, the iconic Chicago skyline. Inside, the 339 guest rooms are more than accommodating with modern furnishings and seemingly endless amenities such as a state-of-the-art fitness center and luxurious spa services.
The Grand Ballroom
With so much to marvel at within the walls of the Trump Hotel, the Grand Ballroom proves itself as a captivating piece of its impressive whole. The view of the city is fantastic, and the Trump Hotel has made sure guests at the Grand Ballroom are not denied their view. The night we were there happened to be the first snowfall of the year, and the ballroom encased by giant gorgeous windows made the room feel like a snow globe! It was hard to believe there was anything so cool anywhere else in the hotel, and then we learned what lied just steps away on the same floor…
Sixteen
Many visitors come to Chicago to experience the food scene, and those staying at the Trump International Hotel & Tower don’t have to go far to find some of the best cuisine in the country. Sixteen, aptly named for its location on the Trump Hotel’s 16th floor is one of only three restaurants in Chicago with a two Michelin star rating, putting it in the top five spots for fine dining in the city. Executive Chef Thomas Lents presents elevated American Cuisine with a focus on sourcing high quality ingredients and introducing new and exciting flavor profiles to guests. Sixteen has also received the honors of being named a Forbes Five-Star and a AAA Five Diamond restaurant, making it a must-see (or must-taste, if you will) piece of your trip to Chicago.
