Just when you thought it was safe to go back to Boystown….
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Roadhouse is fired up every Thursday night at Roscoe’s on Halsted, and we love being a part of it. No one parties harder than the boys in boystown, and we get to see it every week. We have so much fun with these guys. We’ve been playing here for about 6 weeks already, and the show has gotten more fun and more energetic each week! I can’t wait to see how it continues to grow, especially this summer once school lets out. Thursday will be the hottest night to go out pretty soon!
The best thing about playing at a gay bar is that it lets us have fun with the lyrics to some of the songs. I’ve personality sang such lyrics as, “I kissed a boy and I liked it,” “A little ditty about Jack and Brian,” and just yesterday someone joined me at the microphone and sang those old Billy Joel lyrics, “He’s got a way about him.” Pretty much every week we’ve had fun singing some of the famous duets, like “Summer Nights” and “A Whole New World.” I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve had the luck of getting to sing the girl’s part most nights. Just last night I asked Felix (Jim) which part he’d prefer, and he had no problem calling dibs on John Travolta. Whatever. I do a damn good Olivia Newton John.
The staff there is great. Adam and Eddie who run the sound and lights for us make us look and sound awesome! Although, Adam has no problem turning off my microphone if someone requests “Let it Go” from Frozen. We’ve gotten a request for that song. Every. Single. Show. Well, as long as it’s not “Don’t Stop Believing,” I’m not going to complain! There are a few other songs that I’ve had requested here that don’t come up anywhere else, like “Defying Gravity” and “Barbie Girl.” Check out the video below if you’re feeling wicked.
Roscoe’s is a great place to come by and check us out. We don’t have a ton of public shows, but this one is always a great time. We love getting the crazy requests that come in and attempting even the most rediculous songs. Someone last night wanted “Crazy Train.” Ever heard that on a piano? Come to Roscoe’s and find out if it’s any good!
Join us every Thursday for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Roadhouse at Roscoes, featuring VJ Bobby Marley, and of course, Felix and Fingers.
