This Chicago Cultural Center wedding had us in awe. What a great wedding venue! From their Tiffany dome to the excellent staff and wedding planner, it was a perfect evening.
Chicago Cultural Center Wedding
Felix and Fingers does many, many weddings. Hence, we see a ton of different wedding venues. We must say that the Chicago Cultural Center is now one of our favorites. There are two stained glass domes, one of which is the oldest Tiffany stained glass dome in existence. The opulent and tasteful decor is the perfect backdrop for any wedding, large or small. It is across Michigan Avenue from Millennium Park and therefore offers fabulous views. In addition, its proximity to hotels makes it super easy for your guests to find the perfect place to stay for a weekend wedding in the Windy City.
The wedding coordinator and event planner were fabulous to work with. As were the rest of the staff too. This is probably the first time that all of the wedding vendors, ie. photographers, entertainment, etc, were all sat at the same time for dinner. When the Cultural Center was built in 1897, it was originally the Chicago library. Now it is known as the people’s palace and Chicago mayors have hosted many celebrities and dignitaries at this exquisite example of Chicago architecture. Whether you’re looking for an event venue, or just looking for another stop to tour on your downtown trip, they have it all. You can be directed to their website by clicking here.
Dancing Under the Dome
We still can’t get over the beautiful stained glass dome. Even better, we loved to see all of the guests eyes looking up as they danced and mingled under its beauty. We had a lot of great song requests but one that we haven’t had in a while was My Sharona by The Knack. That was on the couple’s must play list so of course we played it. So fun! Our wedding couple, Jillian and Albert, had also chosen to add a saxophone and a guitar to their entertainment contract. Now, we think our dueling piano show is perfect, but it is even more perfect when we have a full band. Definitely something to think about when you are planning your wedding entertainment.
Jillian and Albert’s friends and family were an awesome crowd. They loved to dance. In fact, the couple had placed dancing slippers for the ladies near the dance floor. They wanted people dancing all night and we made sure that happened. All of the guests, at one point, circled the couple in a great bear hug while singing Billy Joel’s Piano Man. That was a very touching moment indeed.
