Recently, Felix and Fingers trekked down to Bloomingdale, IL to play for a wedding at the gorgeous Indian Lakes Resort by Hilton. The resort sits on a large campus which includes luxurious accommodations, 27 holes of championship golf (for those sporty couples), a spa, and great selections for fine dining. Normally weddings are held inside at this location, but Megan and Kevin were confident that the weather would prevail and insisted on an outside, tented wedding. Luckily, Mother Nature was on their side that glorious day and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
Mike and I arrived to a wonderfully designed tent that could inspire anyone to say, “yeah I want to have these people set up my wedding.” We sailed ever so smoothly through the cocktail hour and transitioned into the dinner hour. Now let me tell you, THAT was some pretty delicious food. From the servers walking around with trays of little egg rolls or “something”-wrapped shrimp, to the main buffet courses and expansive dessert selection. It was hard not to keep returning for second’s and third’s!
As is the usual tradition for most weddings, the Bride and Groom will take their first dance together to kick off the night’s festivities, followed by a dance with their parents. But these lovebirds had another surprise come to them after they finished their dances. They had their 8 year old niece grab one of our wireless microphones to sing a wonderful rendition of “I Feel Love” by Charlie Rich. Her joyful singing was well-received by the entire crowd and our newlyweds couldn’t have been more delighted by that small touch to their memorable day. The dueling pianos action ensued throughout the rest of the night, taking requests left and right. Hmm.. that rhymes. 😀 The reflection of the lights off of the giant white tent provided by Indian Lakes Resort gave a big glow of excitement to put everyone in the party mood. It’s always interesting to see what peaks the crowd’s interest when we start to play. You never really know what they’re going to respond to until you get those first 5 requests. Nevertheless, Felix and Fingers can handle whatever comes through our hands anywhere, any time. And after a successful evening of family, friends, food, and fun, and a big high five between Felix and Fingers, everyone slowly filed out with smiles on their faces and highly-lifted spirits.
