This was Felix and Fingers first time performing for the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center Dance Marathon fundraiser, presented by Florida State University. Whether it was singing their hearts out or dancing the night away, a large and excited crowd participated in raising awareness and funds for a children’s hospital. Our performers for this dance off were Brandon Parsons and Nate Rodriguez. We couldn’t hold back our excitement seeing how such a huge group of young people gathered in Tallahassee, Florida to support such a noble cause. It was a truly moving gig.
Civic Center Dance Marathon Fundraiser Tallahassee
With the popularity of online donations, the Civic Center Dance Marathon fundraiser was a fun, in-person event. Technology can’t hold a candle to Felix and Fingers, they are experts in dynamic and unique audience interaction. This was one EXCITED crowd! The energy at the Civic Center Plaza was AMAZING. Our performers played on a HUGE stage in a giant auditorium for this fundraiser. This venue offered incredible staff to help set up and coordinate the fundraiser. Not only were they super friendly, but VERY professional as well. The Civic Center Dance Marathon fundraiser brought new meaning to Richard Simmons Dance Your Pants Off! This crowd requested TONS of young songs keeping us on our toes!
Want to raise money? Hit a gong. This fund raising tradition started several years ago at Florida State University. Hence, it became a way to motivate participants to raise funds during their events. For every $100 raised, participants got to come up to the side stage and hit the gong while cheered on by their peers. We couldn’t get over the fact this was such a HUGE audience, close to 1,300 guests all ready to dance! Even more awesome was this wild and crazy group were one of the LOUDEST singing audiences we’ve ever had! They couldn’t get enough of Hey Jude by The Beatles. In all honesty, it was the perfect sing along song.
Tip Jar Appreciation Donation
What set the Civic Center Dance Marathon fundraiser apart from other events was this was a unique opportunity to unite both students and the surrounding Tallahassee community in a fun and engaging event. We were moreover impressed by the youth’s stamina, 4 hours plus of non-stop dancing to keep the funds collecting as fast as the song requests. Felix and Fingers held a dance off by splitting the room in half. Each side reacted with high jumping and loud yelling when a song with a word (such as FEELING) matching the half assigned was belted out. In the end, both sides came up strong and our tip jar overflowed with appreciation to the awesome crowd interaction.
It was fantastic to hear the Civic Center Dance Marathon fundraiser raised it’s goal for aiding the children’s hospital. We knew songs such as Mr. Brightside by The Killers and Bohemian Rhapsody sing offs would roll in some nickle and dimes helping warm up the crowds wallets. As a matter of fact, this FSU crowd sang so loudly they beat out the 400 watt PA system! One of the highlights of this marathon was Lady Gaga’s Shallow. It was amazing to hear this ENTIRE CROWD sing at the tops of their lungs to every word. It sounded INCREDIBLE!

For a large part of this audience, it was a first time dueling piano experience. In all honesty, Felix and Fingers believe it’s safe to say we’ve created hundreds, if not thousands of dueling piano fans at the Civic Center Dance Marathon fundraiser! Brandon and Nate sang Piano Man by Billy Joel to close the fundraiser. They got an impressive 1,300 people to sway and sing the song as loud as they could all at once. It sounded amazing.
Above all, our performers found this fundraiser a moving and thrilling experience performing for such a young and passionate audience. Our client was so HAPPY with our performance they seemed excited to have us return next year. We totally look forward to another fundraiser with this great group of people.
