Felix and Fingers played at Fishermen’s Inn in Elburn IL for a fundraising event. We had never been there before and were blown away by this beautiful venue, right in Chicago’s backyard. Fishermen’s Inn – Who Knew!
Fishermen’s Inn History
The barn where Fishermen’s Inn was started had been built in 1898 and was renovated in 1964 to become the banquet hall it is now known as. They opened up a 200 person facility in 1985, but soon after, tragedy struck. A fire broke out, and it took 24 hours to fully extinguish it. They closed for nearly a year. In 2012, Fishermen’s Inn was purchased and completely renovated to it’s current beauty. They set out to bring back it’s rustic charm while also modernizing it. It was once known as “the” gathering place, and their goal was to bring that image back! They wanted Fishermen’s Inn to provide lifetime memories.
They also have a commitment to conservatism. This taken right from their website:
The new owners of Fishermen’s Inn feel it is important to stress that their vision in restoring the Inn was twofold; to bring back the wonderful glory to a historic gathering destination and to provide great food, unparalleled service and memories for generations to come.
Their other passion for this property is our commitment to land and wildlife conservation. With the natural spring fed lakes and the surrounding trees, Fishermen’s Inn is a unique setting allowing us to offer guests the natural beauty of the land and water by working to preserve the pristine nature through best-use land management and conservation efforts. We look forward to sharing the contribution this property offers to conservation.
The Events
There are several large rooms inside the building. The party we were performing for was a fundraiser for Mutual Ground. They used the whole building. There was a large banquet room downstairs, and that was where they had their silent auction set up. There were two large rooms used upstairs as well. One room was set up cocktail style for guests to mingle in. That was the room we performed in all night. The other room was set up with several buffet stations where guests were able to walk around and sample a variety of foods. Some of the food was brought from outside vendors, but a lot of it was made in-house, and everything was delicious!
Fishermen’s Inn isn’t just a venue. They specialize in catering food for any type of event. They even have Signature Events. These are evenings when you can make a reservation and come and eat dinner and enjoy great entertainment without actually having to be a part of a wedding or private party. If you sign up for their newsletter and check their website, you can find dates, pricing, and menu information for these. I know I’ll be checking one out soon!
