Felix and Fingers recently played an Arlington Park wedding at Mike Ditka’s. The ceremony was held at the Arlington International Racecourse. The reception took place at Ditka’s Restaurant, which is right next door. The bride and groom are huge fans of horse racing, so they decided to host their celebration at this unforgettable location. Arlington Park Wedding

arlington race park weddingOur pianist Greg had the honor of playing at this Arlington Park wedding on a sunny day in Arlington Heights. The ceremony space was intimate; the couple kept their decorations to a minimum in order to highlight their great venue. During the ceremony the bride walked in to the song Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis. The groom’s eyes grew teary as he watched her progress towards him. They exchanged such sweet hand-written vows that we don’t think there was a dry eye in the house by the end of the ceremony. A cocktail hour was held immediately after in which Greg played some gentle and easy-going music to continue the romantic atmosphere.

Jerry Springer and Churchill Downs

arlington race park weddingAfter the cocktail hour, Greg introduced the couple. Once they were seated, one of the groom’s friends gave a moving speech. He mentioned multiple times how the groom looked like Jerry Springer, and many guests nodded their heads in agreement. Greg didn’t see the resemblance at first. However, once the groom’s friend said it, Greg could see how they looked alike. How cool!

Once the groom’s friend finished his speech, dinner was served. Everything smelled delicious, especially the grilled salmon. A lot of people went up for seconds, and a few guests even went up for thirds! After everyone had eaten their fill, Greg began his set. The couple had requested that he play My Old Kentucky Home by Johnny Cash and Run for the Roses by Dan Fogelberg in honor of their friends who work at Churchill Downs. Quite a few guests sang along to both songs. As the night came to an end, everyone danced and celebrated a touching night. We wish the couple the best and are thankful we were able to be a part of their wedding day.
